Applying for a grant of probate, collecting in and distributing the assets
The Work We Undertake: We will
- Provide you with a dedicated and experienced solicitor to work on your matter
- Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators, the beneficiaries, the assets of the estate and their location; ascertain the liabilities of the estate
- Determine the type of Probate application you will require
- Communicate with the entities holding assets and ascertain their value
- Complete the relevant documents required to make the application
- Complete the relevant HMRC forms and the Probate Application
- Make the application to the Probate Court on your behalf
- Obtain the Probate and official copies to supply to the entities holding assets in the estate
- Collect in all the assets, discharge the liabilities and distribute the net assets to the beneficiaries
- Please note that the sale or transfer of any real estate which is part of the estate will be dealt with by personnel in our Property Department and they will send you an estimate for their work separately.
This work done by our Probate Team does not include dealing with Tax Returns for the Estate or the final Tax Return for the deceased, but our tax group can handle this if you so require and would let you have an estimate for their work.
