Deena Iqbal TEP is a partner and head of our private client team.

She is  a specialist in private wealth matters including probate, wills and inheritance tax planning as well as powers of attorney. She advises clients with assets of up to around £500 million in multiple jurisdictions.

She offers advice on preservation of assets down the blood line via Wills and trusts, and various ways of inheritance tax planning as well as offering succession advice for business owners. She also advises in the highly specialised area of surrogacy wills to ensure intended parents  secure their intended children’s rights before a parental order is put in place.

Deena has administered estates with assets in various jurisdictions including  Japan, Italy, France, various states in USA , Greece and Sweden, often working with lawyers and accountants in those jurisdictions to deal with cross-border issues of both succession and taxation.

Deena also advises on lasting powers of attorney, taking care to advise not only the donor of the power, but to ensure that attorneys are advised as to their duties, obligations and restrictions. This aims to safeguard her clients’  interests and assets. She has a particular interest in protection of the elderly and vulnerable, and has a STEP qualification in advising vulnerable clients.

Deena has lectured on English Wills and probate in America for the American Bar Association, and is a published (co)author for Lexis Nexis on succession.

She has qualified as a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners, and is a member of Law Society ‘s Private Client Section and the Franco British Lawyer’s Society.
