The Department for Transport has just announced the latest Crossrail 2 proposal which sees the development of a route passing beneath the King’s Road fire station to serve residents in the heart of Chelsea before turning south under the river. Around 5,500 Chelsea homes will be brought to within a ten minute walk of the Underground for the first time, providing very fast journey times into central London, Clapham Junction and south-west London.
Crossrail 2 is the proposed new high-frequency, high-capacity rail line running through London and into Surrey and Hertfordshire. If approved construction will begin in 2020.
