Further to the news that the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) campaign threatened to launch judicial review proceedings, Employment Partner Jo Mackie comments on the campaign and its likelihood of success, in The i Paper.

In a March 2024 report, the regulator found the Department for Work and Pensions guilty of “maladministration”, due to their failure to notify women of changes to their state pension age.

The current Government accepted there had been maladministration but rejected calls for compensation based on the claim that 90 per cent of Waspi women were aware of the state pension age changes.

Jo highlighted how the Government’s 90 per cent claim “will be a difficult point to argue” because “it is subjective and open to interpretation”.

Jo’s comments were published in The i Paper, 24 February 2025. Jo’s comments were also featured in a follow-up article in The i Paper, 8 June 2025.
