PDP London in collaboration with Hamiltons Architects has been given the go-ahead to demolish the 1970s Harrods car park to build an 8,000m² luxury care home. Plans for the residential development in Pavilion Road, Knightsbridge, include 34 two-bed apartments, healthcare facilities, a central courtyard, roof terraces and a red brick finish.

The scheme in Pavilion Road, SW1, is two minutes’ walk from Harrods Department Store and the architects aim to build a strong example of contemporary architecture. The site will be opened up by creating a courtyard that links visually to Basil Street and be a physical extension of the Stackhouse and Rysbrack Streets.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s Planning Committee gave the £200m project the green light last week.
