On Thursday 11th December 2025, Burlingtons held a webinar entitled ‘The Future of Employment Law’ covering the Employment Rights Bill.

The Employment Rights Bill (“ERB”) represents the largest employment law change in a generation.

The Bill introduces significant changes to UK employment law, with many significant changes expected to come into effect in phases from April 2026 to 2027.

Key reforms include removing the two-year service requirement for unfair dismissal protection, banning “fire and rehire” practices, and simplifying the process for trade union recognition. The bill also introduces new rights for sick pay, parental leave, and flexible working, and addresses issues like gender pay gaps, zero-hours contracts, and bereavement leave.

The webinar ‘The Future of Employment Law – the Employment Rights Bill’ covers the new legal landscape for employment law and features our Head of Employment, Richard Berry diving into the details of the Bill and can be viewed here.
